Cast Notes
Edit
Making his first appearance during the first season episode Sub Rosa (episode), Sean Murray's character of Timothy McGee proved to be very popular and as such, made further appearances throughout the remainder of the first season.
At the conclusion of Reveille (episode), McGee was made a junior field agent under the supervision of Gibbs.
The premiere episode of the second season entitled See No Evil (episode) marked Sean Murray's transition from a recurring role to that of a series regular and also saw McGee joining the Major Case Response Team on a permanent basis while presumably leaving his former position at the Norfolk Naval Base empty.
In addition, the episode, Lt. Jane Doe (episode) marked the introduction of the Foof, the black and white previews which are seen at the beginning and ending of the act and last for three seconds.
The finale, Twilight (episode) also saw the shocking scene of Caitlin Todd's death at the hands of rogue spy Ari Haswari which occurred in the episode. This was due to the fact that Sasha Alexander had expressed a desire to leave the series after the second season to start a family and pursue other projects. Her rationale, as explained by Donald Bellisario on the DVD release for season two, was the renewal of the series for a third season which had come as a surprise to her because no prior series with which she had been involved had lasted more than two seasons before being cancelled and as such, she had not planned to stay more than two seasons.
Her final appearances in the series occurred in the third season premiere episode entitled Kill Ari Part 1 (episode) and Kill Ari Part 2 (episode) where she was credited as a Special Guest Star.
