Cast Notes
Edit
A guest star in Kill Ari Part 1 (episode) and Kill Ari Part 2 (episode), Cote de Pablo officially joined the cast in Silver War (episode) portraying Ziva David, the Mossad liaison to NCIS and as such, with Ziva's addition to the team, de Pablo was also added to the main cast.
The second season finale saw Caitlin Todd being shot dead at the hands of Ari Haswari in the concluding moments of the episode entitled Twilight. This is due to the fact that Sasha Alexander expressed a desire to leave the series after the second season to pursue other projects. Her rationale as explained by Donald Bellisario on the DVD release for season two, was that the renewal of the series for a third season had come as a surprise to her because, no prior series with which she had been involved had last more than two seasons, as she had not planned to stay more than two seasons.
Her final appearances in the series occurred in the third season premiere episode entitled Kill Ari Part 1 (episode) and Kill Ari Part 2 (episode) in a series of flashbacks and conversations with the remaining cast. For this, she was credited as a Special Guest Star.
Kill Ari Part 1 (episode) also introduced Lauren Holly as the new Director of NCIS, Jennifer Shepard. With the addition of Lauren Holly to the cast the position of Director of NCIS became a role filled by a series regular.
