Sarah Porter is a politician who currently serves as the Secretary of the United States Navy.
Much of Porter's background is unknown but what is known is that her background is mostly business.
NCIS Season 11
Following the death of current SECNAV Clayton Jarvis in an explosion at a hotel which occurred during the Season 11 premiere episode, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (episode), Porter was sworn in as Jarvis's replacement and made her debut appearance in the Season 11 episode, Past, Present and Future (episode) where she met NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and FBI agent Tobias Fornell with NCIS Director Leon Vance making the introductions.
Porter remarked that being appointed as "bittersweet" and that Jarvis had been a friend of hers. She then repeatedly visited the NCIS Headquarters to check progress on the hunt for the terrorist group, the Brotherhood of Doubt and its leader, Benham Parsa.
Porter's next appearance came in Oil and Water (episode) where she made a visit to NCIS HQ.
Porter returned in Gut Check (episode) where she later ended up becoming an unwitting accomplice in a security breach when it became apparent that a pen she had in her possession had been bugged during a briefing.
This, alongside a prior NSA report made by then-NSA analyst Eleanor Bishop that had predicted this security breach, resulted in the NSA (Bishop, more specifically) teaming up with the NCIS Major Case Response Team led by NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs to investigate the people responsible for the security breach.
It was also revealed during the case that Porter had an unnamed teenage daughter.
NCIS Season 12
Porter returned in the Season 12 episode, Choke Hold (episode).
Porter is a tall, lean woman in her early forties with light, curly brown hair and blue eyes.
- Porter is the only SECNAV in NCIS to date who did not serve in the US Military as her background is mostly business.
- Porter is also the first female SECNAV to have appeared in NCIS.
