Recruited is the twelfth episode in Season Eight of NCIS and the 174th episode of the entire NCIS series.
At the William Tyler High School, a college fair is being held with numerous kids and their parents examining various workshops.
At one stand, Petty Officer First Class Simon Craig tells a young girl named Allison that the most valuable asset in America's Navy today is its personnel and that they're smart, dedicated young people just like Allison herself, the best their country has to offer.
He then gives her some small fliers and tells her to take them home and read them with her parents.
He also states that she's got a big decision to make.
Allison thanks Craig before she leaves.
As she heads off, she gives Craig one final look with Craig waving.
Once she's gone, Craig begins disassembling his stand.
A while later, Craig heads down a stairway, carrying a box of small items.
Meanwhile, a lone figure stands there, waiting before they follow Craig.
In the stairway, Craig is heading downstairs when someone claps their hand on his shoulder with Craig instantly apologizing, remarking that he didn't see them there.
The figure just pushes Craig down the stairs, the impact causing Craig to drop his box and the items to scatter everywhere.
Once Craig is at the bottom, the figure rushes down to the area, passing over the items.
Craig himself lies on the ground, stunned, blood emerging from his head as well as his nose and mouth. He's also weakly gasping, implying that the wounds may be fatal with Craig begging for help.
The hooded figure stands over him.
Craig attempts to ask the figure for help but the figure doesn't reply.
Instead, the figure has its boot raised.
It then cuts to a shot of the boot which seconds later comes down in a sickening stomp, killing Craig.
Tony emerges from the bathroom and meets McGee with Tony wondering if McGee broke Zanetti.
McGee states that he offered to drop the lumber assault charge if Zanetti confessed to Craig's murder.
- Vance returns to work and it's shown that he is walking with a cane to aid his recovery.
- The team meets Ducky's predecessor Dr. Walter Magnus.
- McGee reveals that in addition to being allergic to poison ivy, he's also allergic to sawdust.
- Bob Newhart (Walter Magnus) is credited as a Special Guest Star.
- The song that plays during the last minutes of this episode is Lady Antebellum- Hello World.
