Rachel Cranston (formerly Rachel Todd) is a Doctor, a Psychologist, and also the older sister of deceased Secret Service agent-turned-NCIS Special Agent Caitlin Todd.

Biography

Pre-Series

NCIS Season 8

In A Man Walks into a Bar (episode) she visits Director Vance and tell him her orders to evaluate the team. The team will undergo a series of mandatory psychological evaluations and she spends the episode talking to the team members and figuring out how they deal with being an Agent and how they deal with trauma. Both Gibbs and DiNozzo realizes that she is the older sister of former Agent Todd, who died many years back. She reveals to Gibbs that she couldn't handle going to Kate's funeral, and it seems to haunt her. Talking to the team members helps her deal with the loss of her sister and she recommends that the team resume back to normal duty.

NCIS Season 9

In the season premiere Nature of the Beast (episode) she is brought in by Gibbs to help Anthony DiNozzo remember what had happend to him and what he had been working on lately, after he is admitted to the hospital after being shot and suffering a concussion.

She makes a new appearance in season 9's Psych Out (episode) when she knows the victim and have been treating Dr. Robert Banks for depression and other issues as he had been going through a lot. He appears to have taken his own life, but Gibbs and Rachel suspects it to be a homicide. The case also involves another psychologist and former nemesis of Rachel, Dr. Samatha Ryan. The case involved PsyOps Division which Dr. Ryan is the Head of. Dr. Banks was involved in a PsyOps Operation that aimed to destabilize nuclear scientist in Iran. It appears the Iranians might have used PsyOps own methods against Dr. Banks, as someone had hacked into his computer and tried to make his life miserable without him noticing what was happening.
