Pyramid, is the twenty-fourth and final episode in Season Eight of NCIS, and the 186th of the series as a whole. This episode also marks the final appearance of SecNav Phillip Davenport, NCIS Special Agent Gayne Levin and Lt. Jonas Cobb respectively.
Following on from the previous episode, it's revealed that Gayne Levin is dead, having been shot by Jonas Cobb while Simon Cade has managed to survive despite losing a lot of blood.
Barrett is later found inside the trunk of a car, safe, alive but deeply shaken by the events.
Ziva attempts to contact Ray and later goes to his hotel room, only to be knocked unconscious by Cobb who takes her as his prisoner.
Cobb eventually gives himself up to NCIS.
Rule 16 is revealed to be: "If someone thinks they have the upper hand, break it".
During the autopsy of Levin, Ducky confirms that Cobb killed Levin using the firearm he stole from Michael Franks.
Before the official autopsy can begin, EJ pays her respects to Levin's body and then removes a microchip from Levin's arm, a plot possibly to be revealed further upon in Season 9.
While being escorted to Lock-Up, Cobb escapes, knocking out the NCIS Agent guarding him while also taking Jimmy Palmer and Barrett hostage.
It's revealed that Abby has had motion-sense lights installed in her lab, lights that can be turned on or off whenever she claps her hands.
It's soon discovered that the former Secretary of the Navy Phillip Davenport is also Barrett's uncle.
It's revealed that Palmer is engaged to be married.
It's also shown that Vance had has his office modified to have a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility or (SCIF) so that even the most secretive of cases or information can be discussed without any outside interference.
Upon being confronted by Davenport, Gibbs and Vance, Cobb attempts to kill Davenport, only for Gibbs and Vance to respond by shooting him, causing Cobb to fall out of the building's window onto a car which results in his death and permanently ends his killing spree.
Barrett and Cade, having recovered and been discharged from hospital announce that they both intend to take some time off to deal with the recent events.
As a result of the events, Philip Davenport steps down from his role as SECNAV.
Ziva's boyfriend Ray Cruz receives a text message to "take care of" Kort "ASAP" and heads to Israel straightaway.
The team bid farewell to Franks who is given a Marine funeral.
It's revealed that Gibbs is the one who personally designed Franks's coffin.
It is also revealed that Kort is in Tel Aviv for an unknown reason.
Philip Davenport's replacement, Clayton Jarvis is introduced for the first time.
DiNozzo is recruited to help Jarvis with an investigation regarding an NCIS Special Agent who is presumably selling secret information, one that Jarvis be kept in house and that DiNozzo must not tell any of his colleagues of.
