Jardine had received a phone call from Navy Lt. Michael Arnett, a Naval intelligence officer, in whose unit there was a suspected mole. Shortly thereafter, Lt. Arnett was shot and killed just as Gibbs had talked him out of committing suicide.
Though she was seen as something of an oddity by the rest of Gibbs's team, she quickly proved to be intelligent, analytical, and able to hold her ground on her opinions. She also volunteered to travel to the "hot zone" in Iraq with Anthony DiNozzo to investigate a murder committed there.
Nikki has at least one brother, Eric, who is a U.S. Marine and to whom she is very close. Eric is currently comatose in a U.S. hospital, after having been shot in Baghdad in 2006.
Personality and AbilitiesEdit
Nikki is extremely fastidious and obsessively hygienic, washing her hands frequently, avoiding handshakes and other forms of bodily contact, and always preparing her own food. When several people in her department came down with influenza, she habitually wore a surgical mask to work.
She is fluent in English, Arabic, and Kurdish.
