The season premiered on September 25, 2012, and ended on May 14, 2013.
The episodes Red Part 1 (episode) and Red Part 2 (episode), were intended to be a backdoor pilot for a series titled NCIS: Red, but the project was ultimately passed over by CBS, leaving NCIS: Red the only backdoor episodes associated with the NCIS franchise to not be given a full series.
