Cast Notes

In the two backdoor pilot episodes, Legend Part 1 (episode) and Legend Part 2 (episode) that aired as part of NCIS Season 6, OSP was originally headed by Lara Macy who was portrayed by British actress Louise Lombard.

However, when NCIS: Los Angeles aired as a full series, Macy was removed from the series and ultimately killed off in the NCIS Season 7 episode, Patriot Down (episode) with the character of Henrietta Lange being created to replace Macy and actress Linda Hunt going on to play Hetty, Hunt making her debut appearance in the NCIS: Los Angeles Season 1 premiere episode, Identity (episode).

Adam Jamal Craig portrayed rookie field agent Dominic Vail. The character was credited as a regular through the first twelve episodes of the show's run, thereafter appearing as a guest star before he was killed off in the NCIS: Los Angeles Season 1 episode, Found (episode).

Barrett Foa portrayed Eric Beale. Originally credited as a guest star, he was promoted to series regular after episode thirteen.

The season was originally planned to only be thirteen episodes. On October 7, 2009, after ratings as the most watched new show, CBS ordered a full set of 22 episodes, which was upped to 24 episodes on November 4, 2009.

1 1 Identity (episode) September 22, 2009. Having successfully recovered from the near-fatal shooting that took place in the last few seconds of Legend (Part 2) (episode), NCIS Special Agent G. Callen returns to his team whose headquarters have since moved to a new building on the outskirts of Los Angeles. As that happens, the OSP team investigative the murder of a Naval Commander who was kidnapped by a drug cartel and eventually killed in a shootout between the cartel and members of the Los Angeles Police Department with OSP soon learning that the Commander's actions might have jeopardized a highly-classified military operation against various drug cartels in Mexico and also put the life of his young niece in grave danger, forcing the team to race against the clock to find and save the young girl before it's too late but all is not what it seems.
2 2 The Only Easy Day (episode) September 29, 2009. When a group of Navy SEALs carry out a raid on the home of a drug dealer, leaving one man dead, OSP investigate with the case soon becoming very personal for Sam as the group are people that he originally trained. It seems to be a simple case but the team soon find that the double-crossing that took place at the house could run a lot deeper than originally thought and that it might be even involved a member of the Los Angeles Police Department who could also be a dirty cop.
3 3 Predator (episode) October 6, 2009. A routine training exercise which the Marine Corps are conducting ultimately ends in tragedy when an MQ-1 Predator and Hellfire missile are hijacked and subsequently stolen, resulting in the death of a Marine. The OSP team investigate the murder and head into the hacking underworld to get answers and also retrieve the stolen missile before it can be used in an attack against America.
4 4 Search and Destroy (episode) October 13, 2009. A former Marine arrives in Los Angeles with his arrival triggering a series of killings. As OSP hunts for the missing Marine who is a person of interest in the investigation in the murder of a prominent Iraqi businessman, Citdential, a private security firm muscles in on the case with their own private agenda.
5 5 Killshot (NCIS: Los Angeles episode) October 20, 2009. While on his jetski, a man who is originally from North Korea is shot dead and the OSP team fear that the victim's classified secrets may have been lost but everything changes when the team discover a suspect: North Korean assassin, Lee Wuan Kai who appears to have a history with NCIS Director Leon Vance.
6 6 Keepin' It Real (episode) November 3, 2009. A Marine who had been leading the life of a wealthy playboy falls off the rooftop of a night club with the LAPD believing that it's a suicide. However, the Marine's family contact SECNAV who later tasks OSP with investigating the case but things change when OSP Tech Operator Eric Beale discovers that the supposed suicide is in fact a murder with the team searching for the Marine's killer with the help of a Secret Service agent.
7 7 Pushback (episode) November 10, 2009. A woman is found dead and a flash-drive containing photos is soon discovered with the OSP team getting involved when the flash-drive is discovered to contain photographs of Callen himself. Now the team must tackle their most personal case to date: finding who arranged for Callen's murder.
8 8 Ambush (episode) November 17, 2009. When a Marine reservist is brutally murdered in an fish aquarium, OSP investigate and are stunned to discover that the death is connected to a case their colleague, NCIS Special Agent Mike Renko has been working with the case leading Callen, Sam, Kensi, Renko and the rest of the OSP team to a dangerous militia group, Enhancing Law Enforcement or ELE. As the team scramble to arrest the members of the group and retrieve six stolen anti-tank missiles while preventing ELE from launching their next attack against illegal immigrants, the whole situation soon escalates into a highly tense stand-off with a lot at stake and has Callen caught in the middle while Hetty is in Washington, D.C., attending a Senate hearing.
9 9 Random on Purpose (episode) November 24, 2009. When a Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy and who is also an engineer is murdered, the OSP team investigative but can't seem to find a motive whatsoever. However, they soon get a huge surprise when NCIS Forensic Abby Sciuto arrives in from Washington D.C. with news that the killing could be connected to a serial killer known as the Phantom.
10 10 Brimstone (episode) December 15, 2009. As Los Angeles prepares to celebrate Christmas, OSP investigate when a Marine is killed via his cell phone which explodes and the investigation leads them to a disfigured serviceman who may be the killer but all is not what it seems.
11 11 Breach (episode) January 5, 2010. OSP investigates when a Petty Officer dies when the stolen car he was in crashes into a strip club. During the case, the team discover a plot to extort intelligence secrets from various male Navy personnel while a terrorist is targeting vulnerable young men to fight his Holy War and one of his targets is a friend of Sam's.
12 12 Past Lives (episode) January 12, 2010. A sailor is executed in broad daylight, prompting the OSP team to investigate the circumstances while Callen goes undercover as one of his old aliases is reactivated.
13 13 Missing (NCIS: Los Angeles episode) January 26, 2010. The OSP team's day at a seminar is interrupted when they learn of an emergency page concerning NCIS Special Agent Dominic Vail and as they search for clues into Dom's kidnapping, they discover that a group of ruthless South Americans could be responsible.
14 14 LD50 (episode) February 2, 2010. OSP investigate when two career criminals disguised as Marines are found dead and soon uncover information that there will be an auction where the weapon will be sold and be used to launch a bio-terrorist attack.
15 15 The Bank Job (episode) February 9, 2010. The OSP team investigate the robbery of a military convey in Iraq which leads them to a jihadist group who have hired a heist crew to reclaim their money which forces the team into a race against the clock to stop the raid from happening but the stakes are raised when Kensi is apparently shot and injured although all is not what it seems.
16 16 Chinatown (episode) March 2, 2010. A Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy commits suicide by hanging himself, prompting the OSP team to investigate with the case soon becoming intense when it's discovered that the victim's family are hiding many dark secrets.
17 17 Full Throttle (episode) March 9, 2010. When a sailor in the United States Navy dies in an illegal street race, the OSP team investigative and find themselves entering the world of illegal underground street racing to find the murderer while Callen, having been caught speeding for the third time in eighteen months finds himself attending a comedy traffic school.
18 18 Blood Brothers (NCIS: Los Angeles Season 1 Episode) March 16, 2010. When a Marine is shot dead in a drive-by shooting, OSP investigate and soon discover a weapons smuggling operation concerning AK-47s which are being used by a street gang with the team racing against the clock to stop a war from erupting on the streets of Los Angeles.
19 19 Hand-to-Hand (episode) April 6, 2010. When a Marine and MMA fighter is found dead outside a nightclub with the OSP team suspecting that it could be a revenge-killing, forcing Sam to go undercover to find the murderer.
20 20 Fame (episode) April 27, 2010. When a Naval officer with connections to a famous socialite dies after the car he was in falls off a cliff, it appears to be a simple case but evidence soon emerges, confirming that the officer was shot which confirms that the death is a murder. The OSP team soon go undercover as VIPs and head into the world of fame in hopes of finding the killer while Detective Marty Deeks adjusts to life as a liaison between NCIS and the LAPD.
21 21 Found (episode) May 4, 2010. After several months with no new leads, the OSP team jump into action when they learn of a new video which shows a group of terrorists threatening the life of a hostage who's revealed to be none other than missing OSP agent Dominic Vail with the team desperately racing against time to find and save Dom before it's too late.
22 22 Hunted (episode) May 11, 2010. Two days after saying goodbye to a member of the team, OSP investigates when a shootout at an airport leaves one person dead as Callen and the team attempt to find the head of the terrorist organization while in light of tragic recent events, Hetty has second thoughts about her future as Operational Manager of the Office of Special Projects.
23 23 Burned (episode) May 18, 2010. A normal day for Callen soon goes horribly wrong when he learns that his cover has been blown, forcing him to go on the run while OSP finds itself struggling when their computers are hacked, resulting in them going offline. The team struggle to get back up and running and soon discover that the security breach comes from a shadowy intelligence dealer who has ties to an Eastern European mafia group with things later becoming intense when Eric discovers that the virus has compromised the NCIS agency itself, forcing the OSP team into a race against time to stop the dealer from selling a file containing highly classified information about NCIS and its personnel as well as its operations to the highest bidder before it's too late.
24 24 Callen, G. (episode) May 25, 2010. OSP races against time to stop a brutal, murderous cabal from launching a deadly nuclear war in the Middle East while Callen discovers some answers concerning his mysterious past and true identity.
