Landon Grey is a fan of Agent Timothy McGee’s books, and a murderer inspired by the book series.

Biography[]

Pre-Series[]

Landon is a coffee house barista at McGee's favorite shop, as well as a big fan of McGee's fictional Deep Six crime novel series, under which McGee used the pen name Tom E. Gemcity to publicize is works. Landon was also unhinged enough to believe the novels were real.

Believing he needed to "save" McGee's character, he stalked McGee to his house and rummaged through his trash to read his drafts on his thrown away typewriter ribbons. When Landon identified the real people McGee based his characters on, in drafts where McGee's character was targeted by them, he set out to kill them.

NCIS Season 4[]

Landon began with two frequent customers in the very barista he and McGee worked in, Petty Officer Darren Cove and Adrian Corbett. Landon kills Petty Officer Cove in his home, then stages a beer bong scene with a cocktail McGee fashioned for his series. When the fireman respond to a call of smoke in the petty officer’s home, blood on the floor, the staged scene, and a note reading “one down, two to go”, are found. Landon is later seen speaking with McGee in casual conversation at the coffee house, mentioning himself liking McGee’s publications and understanding McGee’s creative block.

When McGee realizes the murders are inspired by his books, he takes the team to an off-road wooded area he set the scene for in his upcoming novel, where Petty Officer Cove and Corbett are both found dead, stabbed to death with a javelin. McGee is extremely shaken by the case, but he persists long enough to realize Landon is getting info on his transcripts through his typewriter ribbons in his trash. Going through his free writing, he realizes Landon fixated on passages where characters based on Corbett and the Petty Officer were planning to kill McGee. The team realizes Abby is targeted next, as Landon misread a passage of a character based on her breaking up with a character based on him.

Landon, by this point, has discreetly taken Abby’s phone at the nunnery where he’s sleeping, as her apartments flooded. He confronts her with his delusions and holds her at gunpoint. Landon is taken aback by seeing Tony and Ziva, addressing them by their characters’ names. When McGee arrives, horrified Landon is the killer, and he fails to talk Landon down from his breakdown, he tells Landon to not shoot Abby, as his and Abby’s characters get married in the novel. Moved, Landon gives his gun up and surrenders to arrest, muttering he thought he was doing the right thing.

Personality[]

Landon originally appears normal, mild-mannered, and friendly enough to have an easy time taking with him. He’s really unstable, obsessed, and dangerously relentless in stalking McGee and his novel material, hellbent on feeding his delusions with violence to fulfill his ideal fantasy he believes the novels create for him.

Physical Appearance[]

Landon is Caucasian, clean cut, with short hair, ordinary features and figure, and above average height. If he’s not wearing his work uniform, he’s dressed in dark clothes, typically a leather jacket, pants, and boots.
