The Deer Hunter is an unnamed hunter responsible for discovering the cargo pod that held the body of Mark Schilz, a Navy Lieutenant who had disappeared ten years ago after supposedly stealing 1.2 million dollars of stolen Navy funds from the USS Eisenhower.

As a result of his discovery, he called the local police who in turn called NCIS so that the Major Case Response Team led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs could come investigate the scene.
