Special Agent Brent Langer was once an NCIS agent on Gibbs' team before DiNozzo joined. At some point, Langer moved to the FBI, and once worked with Gibbs and his team on a case involving the murder of a Muslim marine. Some time after this, Langer rejoined Gibbs' team for four months with Michelle Lee and Daniel Keating- he along with these two agents were suspected of leaking US military files. Langer was killed by the mole in the agency- Michelle Lee, who claimed the Langer was the mole and shot him only in defense. In the sixth season episode "Cloak" Agent Lee admitted under questioning by Leroy Jethro Gibbs that Agent Langer had been innocent and was not engaged in espionage.
Agent Langer was referenced during the sixth season episode, "Collateral Damage" through the use of flashbacks.
