Abigail Borin is a member and also a Special Agent of the CGIS- Coast Guard Investigative Service who in terms of personality and attitude is considered to be the female opposite of former Gunnery Sergeant turned NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
Originally from a unnamed small town in Ohio and an only child, Borin served a tour of duty in Iraq as a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps.
During her time in Iraq, she lost her significant other which left her devastated and later caused her to retire from the Marines for good with an unidentified rank.
Some point after that, she joined CGIS where she later rose through the ranks, eventually getting the opportunity to lead her own team.
NCIS Season 7
In March 2010, while investigating the house of a suspect during the Season 7 episode, Jurisdiction (episode), Borin and her partner, CGIS agent Kyle Omagi met NCIS Special Agents Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Anthony DiNozzo and after some disagreements, the two teams began to work together whenever they met each other, a trait that has continued to this day.
NCIS Season 8
Borin reappeared in the Season 8 episode, Ships in the Night (episode).
NCIS Season 9
Borin returned in the Season 9 episode, Safe Harbor (episode).
NCIS Season 10
Borin appeared in the episode Lost at Sea (episode).
NCIS Season 11
In the Season 11 episode, Oil and Water (episode), after helping Gibbs and the team solve an oil rig bombing, Borin hinted that she would like to apply to NCIS sometime in the future. She also gave Gibbs her condolences on the recent resignation of former NCIS Special Agent Ziva David.
NCIS Season 12
Borin appeared in the Season 12 episode, The San Dominick (episode).
Borin is the exact same as Gibbs and like Gibbs, she too runs her team, often headslapping her colleagues. She also displays gut feelings and doesn't believe in any kind of coincidence whatsoever.
She also loves coffee and like Gibbs, has her own set of rules.
- Diane Neal, the actress who plays Borin, also plays a prominent role in Law and Order Special Victims Unit, as Assistant District Attorney Casey Novak.
