A Desperate Man is the thirteenth episode in NCIS Season 9 and the 199th episode of the entire NCIS series.

The team's efforts to find the killer of a Navy Lieutenant Commander whose body was found in an apartment is hampered when her grief-stricken husband who also happens to be a Metro Police Department detective insists on being part of the investigation.

Upstairs in an apartment under construction, Jane Thomas remarks, "Oh my God. It's like a war zone in here".

Her husband, Martin Thomas states that he loves it.

"You can't be serious, Martin", Jane says.

Walking over, Martin tells Jane or "sweetie" that it's got tons of potential.

The estate agent chimes to say that they just started the remodel and isn't the view fabulous?

"Yeah", Jane says. "If you're into bomb shelter chic".

She also points out that the window is missing.

It then shows a window is missing as a horn honks in the background.

The estate agent remarks that they'll replace that and it's not a problem.

She then approaches, stating that this area will blow up in a few years, trust her.

"I'm pretty sure it already has", Jane remarks.

As they walk over to another area, Martin tells Jane to come on and be positive. He also urges to think about this as one of her projects before reminding her that he knows how much she loves her projects.

This has Jane smiling and she remarks that original-panned windows are fabulous.

"Mmm-hmmm", Martin says.

The estate agent then suggests that they see the rest.

"Okay", Jane agrees.

As they walk on, the estate agent tells them that they'll have their choice of flooring and that polished concrete is what is hot now but if they want to choose something else, they can certainly arrange that.

Milton then sees something and screams with Jane doing the same while muttering, "Oh my God" in disbelief.

"Hey, hey, hey", Martin urges, comforting her while Jane begins to sob.

It then cuts to show the dead body of a woman lying on the floor, her eyes open yet glazed over with dried blood on the left side of her neck.
